- Company Biog
Justine originates from Topanga Canyon, California, which is up the coastal road running between L.A. and San Francisco, and just a stones throw away world famous places such as Santa Monica, Hollywood, and the infamously funky artist hang out, Venice beach.
She grew up riding her horse to school through the wilderness from her parents self-built house in the canyon, and was such a natural at such a young age that she even started training as a potential Olympic contender.
However, as we reach the early 90's, the buzz of fashion and music was emanating from Europe. Justine knew she had to begin her travels, leaving behind her authentic Cow-Girl history and setting off to Amsterdam, finally arriving in London, to follow her dream of being involved in the most creative fashion industry in the world.
After a course at Holts Academy of Jewellery in London she started business, making small pieces of silver jewellery for fun and friends. The orders came in thick and fast, realizing she was on the brink of something big, she pulled back, recruited young brother-in-law business graduate Richard Cullen, and set about designing her first collection "LoveBites".
LoveBites, was inspired initially by the breakdown of a close friends relationship, the collection grew from the intense emotions that surround the experiences of being in love, and falling out of love. The first pieces in the collection were the "Be Charming" designs, closely followed by the "Angel" and "Lucky" designs. The full collection now stands at 22 original pieces, most of which are available in regular or darker oxidized finishes. Each piece has been lovingly finished by hand and the entire collection is made from pure sterling silver.
We hope you enjoy broswing through the collection, if you have any custom ideas of your own please get in touch with us here.
Justine, the company, is a relatively new venture, spearheaded by Justine Cullen who designs the products, assisted by Richard Cullen who administrates the money and provides creative input and Henry Cullen who helps out with the website.
The family run company is based in the U.K. and is committed to making fresh and funky jewellery with a responsible attitude to environmental issues and precious metal issues, including using UK made recyclable material for the packaging and silver from responsible sources.
Justine Cullen's jewellery is currently sold exclusively here on the justinecullen.com website and through private contact, we are hoping this will change in the future, Harrods, maybe Selfridges, who knows ?
But one thing is for sure, the quality of our designs will never be compromised.
